Detecting the Cancer by Having Blood Test
Early detection of cancer in the body can be done with a blood test, or known as a tumor marker. This can be an alternative choice for the detection of cancer in the body, other than papsmear and biopsy. Tumor marker is a substance which is commonly found in the body that cause by cancer. Tumor marker is produced directly by the cancer cells as a response to the presence of cancer or other conditions. The majority of tumor markers are in the form of protein, which is usually found in the blood or urine.
However, tumor marker is not the only indicative variable of a tumor. The patient who is known to have tumor marker need to conduct a supplementary check-up like USG and radiology. The standard is, there should be remain a supplementary check-up either by interview or by USG and radiology. This is for making sure whether the results are truly positive.
Besides that, the medical team will also need to look at other variables such as the weight of the patient who have a tumor marker. We also still have to perform other checks, such as whether there is a drastic weight loss. If there is, means that the malignancy truly exists.
