Some include topical applications and others are given by injection or in form of pills. All of them will require an assessment from professional treatment and will need a prescription from the doctor or Dermatologist.

Accutane (Isotretinoin) is the one that often prescribed for light to severe acne treatment. This substance is very impressive and able to reduce excessive oil, clogged pores and kill the bacteria which often linked with acne. Accutane also has several side effects, such as headache, excessive dryness and thinning on the skin. This is not recommended for pregnant women as studies have shown that inappropriate use may cause birth defects on the unborn fetus.

The doctor will assess your suitability for the treatment and monitor the experienced side effects, so that will be imperatives to avoid regular contacts during the treatment. Acne is caused by bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) which in some cases may be treated with antibiotics.

The most recommended antibiotics for acne treatment are Erythromycin and Tetracycline (or doxycycline and monocyclyne derivatives). The treatment may take several months and also include its side effects, such as sensitivity to sunlight and gastrointestinal disorder.
