A study in Sweden recently has mentioned the risk of a new disease that caused by smoking, that is Multiple sclerosis (MS) or neurological disease. But for this case, nicotine is not the cause. Different to other diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes that are caused by additives substance in the cigarettes (nicotine), this time the cause is cyanide in the cigarettes. Just so you know besides nicotine, inside the cigarettes there are 44,000 other chemical substances, including cyanide. It is mentioned that man smokers have the risk of MS disease 1.8 times bigger than those who do not smoke. But those who smoked cigars tend to be less affected by this disease.
Unlike the American cigars, Swedish cigars are specifically designed precisely so that nicotine is much absorbed by the mouth. However, after been investigate, it is not nicotine that triggers this MS disease. There are 902 people diagnosed with MS and 57 percent of MS patients are admitted having smoked at least a year earlier. But for those who smoked a cigar, the risk is 20 percent lower. Among thousands of hazardous substances in cigarettes, cyanide is suspected as the cause of MS, not nicotine.
Cough With Phlegm Is Dangerous
The attack of cough with phlegm that lasted for a long time is often considered trivial by most people. In fact, that condition is a symptom of respiratory tract inflammation or bronchitis. If it is not addressed immediately, patients may experience exacerbations of the disease, even can disrupt the cardiac function.
Smoking habit and air pollution increases the risk of chronic bronchitis and also trigger a recurrence of this disease. Acute bronchitis is caused by flu or other infections in the respiratory tract and can be cured in a few days or weeks. On chronic bronchitis, occurs a settled irritation or inflammation in the respiratory tract which is happens due to smoking and it is often relapses.
If it is getting worse, the disease was included in the COPD group that requires a serious treatment. Bronchitis patients experiencing symptoms that are a cough with phlegm, shortness of breath, and it is getting worse during the activity, wheezing, fever, and discomfort in the chest.
The Diseases of The Smoker
Male smokers die 13.2 years younger than others who did not smoke. While women smokers die 14.5 years younger. Here is a list of diseases that threaten on the smokers:
Brain: cigarettes are a major cause of stroke.
Eyes: smokers are risking three times higher suffering cataract that can lead to blindness.
The mouth, throat, vocal cords, and the esophagus: causing mouth cancer, throat, vocal cords, and the esophagus. Also, gum disease, colds, and dry throat.
Teeth: smokers are risking 10 times higher suffering periodontitis (gum burns that can lead to infections) that will damage the soft tissue and bones.
The lungs: female smokers are 13 times more likely to get a lung cancer, while men are 23 times greater. Other results that are pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, chronic cough, and asthmatic.
Heart: heart failure, heart attack, hypertension, stroke.
Stomach: stomach cancer and gastric cancer.
