Three of the 4 antiviral flu drugs have also been approved as a drug prevention of influenza. These drugs were not substitutes of the influenza vaccine. These drugs often used as a flu preventive drugs in situations were people on high risk of complications which attacked each other in a close contact distance, as the situation in a hospital or nursing home care situations where there are family members that each other in a close contact distance.

For example, during the attacks at home care, the people who lived in the house and other staff may be given flu vaccines (by injection or nasal spray) and also given antiviral drug for prevention getting flu until vaccine which has been given is working and provide affect on the immune against flu.
